This 5 in. wide box newel post comes with an adjustable base sleeve that lets you extend or shorten the newel. This engineered Red Oak product has an outer layer that is 1/8 in. thick allowing it to be sanded down and stained multiple times if required. This is not solid all the way through. This is a hollow core product, as is the industry standard specs. For installation it comes with an inner mounting block, but not the S-9403 sure-tite mounting kit.
